RICIGS Fall Virtual Genealogical Conference

As we continue to celebrate our 50th Anniversary all year long and because we enjoyed holding our first virtual conference in April, we have decided to do it again! In conjunction with Family History Month in October we will be holding our second Virtual Conference.

The mini virtual conference is on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Our speaker is J. Mark Lowe.

J. Mark Lowe, FUGA is a full time professional genealogist, author and lecturer. Mark has been researching families for more than 55 years. He grew up in Tennessee with extensive family roots in Kentucky. He has traveled extensively in both states and enjoys sharing his love of genealogy and the joy of research with others including some historic reenacting. As a researcher and lecturer, Lowe enjoys working with Genealogical groups and professional organizations. He was a former President of the of the Association of Professional Genealogists, former Vice President and Secretary of the Federation of Genealogical Societies,

J. Mark Lowe will present on two topics. The topics are:

Expanding and  Exploring Details from Published Local Histories

Description: Using the basic tools of family history research, discover additional family information with these records and writings. Learn the importance of analyzing the information that you find and realizing how important collateral/cluster line research is in helping to move you toward success in the genealogical process.

Timelines and Manuscripts, A Personal Connection

Description: Personal records and manuscripts about families which moved around, along with their neighbor are often elusive, but may hold hidden treasure for the persistent researcher. Discover the people with whom they worked, prayed, fought and married. 

Details

Sessions will be Saturday morning via Zoom on October 22 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM.  Cost will be $15 per Zoom login. Sessions will be recorded and available to registered attendees for 30 days after the presentation. Handouts will be provided for each topic and there will be drawings for door prizes throughout the morning.
