Settlers of the Beekman Patent

The Settlers of the Beekman Patent, Dutchess County, New York by Frank J Doherty

This is a recent addition to the Rock Island Illinois Genealogical Society’s library (found at the Rock Island County Historical Society in Moline).  Call number RICIGS, 974.733, Doh.  This was given in memory of former Society librarian, Dorothy Darland, who passed away a few months ago.

This is a series of books, volumes 1 through 14. Volume 1 gives a history of the Beekman Patent area in Dutchess County, New York. Volumes 2 through 14 contain family histories of the Beekman Patent settlers from the emigrant through children born prior to 1810.  To qualify for inclusion in this work, the family had to have been in Beekman or Pawling by the time of the first census in 1790.

A list of source references are included as well as an every name index for each of the volumes.

This is a work in progress, with the most recent volume published in 2019 and goes through the surname Tupper.
