This page contains digitized family histories associated with Rock Island County and also throughout the United States. Histories have been submitted by RICIGS members or by the general public. Our goal of this collection is to provide ancestor histories and information to our fellow genealogists throughout the country and thus bring them to life for future generations.
These stories can provide unique information about an era and context that will bring family history alive. Within family histories, you may find a record of events that had a profound impact locally, but received little attention in history books. Even details that are not factually accurate can provide insight into the prevailing attitudes that colored our ancestors’ lives. For family and other historians, published family histories can supply a personal perspective and intimate details that are not readily available elsewhere.
