From The Moline Weekly Mail, September 28, 1899
Alfred C. Ellis, formerly of Rock Island, is now in the St. Louis jail charged with bigamy. He was a soldier in the late war and fought in the regular army in Puerto Rico and Cuba. He has a wife living in Carthage, Illinois and one living in St. Louis. The St. Louis wife is Mis’s Ester Block. Nora Ells of Carthage is his lawful wife.
