Capt. John E. Brackett arrived in town yesterday from California He formerly resided in this city and subsequently served with distinction in Col. Stevenson’s California Reg’t during the Mexican War. He was a member of the 1st California legislature and Major General of the 2nd Division of the California militia. He is now in poor health.
