Surnames Information
RICIGS has files on queries, family charts, newspaper clippings, etc. on family surnames. These files are in the Surname File black cabinet near the maps in the library at the Rock Island County Historical Society.
Below is a link to the list of surnames found in the folders. The surname cross references with the name in the ‘File Folder’ column. To do a “find” on this page, use the browser controls. On a Windows computer, press and hold the ‘Control’ key and then press the ‘F’ key. On a Mac computer, press and hold the ‘Command’ key and then press the ‘F’ key. Type the name in the find field, and the code will be highlighted on the page.
