Education Corner: Is this the year?

By Linda Bergren Polich. It’s a new year … how will you make the most of it?

Is this the year that you will organize your genealogy research? Just do a little bit at a time, so you can easily find what you’re looking for!

Is this the year that you will start compiling a family history book to share with your family members? You have worked so hard on your research – it’s time to share!

Is this the year that you will label your printed photos? Don’t let your children and grandchildren wonder who the mystery people are in family photos!

Is this the year that you will display some of your family heirlooms in your home, instead of keeping them hidden away in boxes? Be proud of your heritage and let others see what you have!

Is this the year that you will go through the boxes of items you have received from your parents and grandparents? Pull these boxes out of the closet and start the sorting and sharing process!

Is this the year that you will make a task list of the documents you still need to find to make your research more complete?  Create a list and start the process!

And finally … Is this the year that you will take a more active role in our Genealogical Society? Think about joining a committee (or maybe joining our Board!).  We just celebrated our 50th anniversary last year, and with your help, we can move forward successfully into our next 50 years!

Happy New Year and Happy Researching!
